Care Costs - your options explained
We carried out a poll of 3000 people over the age of 40 in early 2010. It showed that over 70% of the respondent's parents and grandparents had made no plans for paying for their eventual care costs.
The average 65 year old is likely to need £30,000 worth of care over the rest of their life, and few people are eligible for full state or local authority support. How people are going to pay for the care that they are going to need is a serious and difficult issue.
What are the options available for somebody who needs care ?
Christies Care has written a booklet explaining the options, covering topics such as:
- Dealing with financial affairs
- Paying for care from capital
- Using annuities
- Considerations on downsizing
- Borrowing on the security of your home
- Selling part of your home
- Local Authority support
- State benefits
- Can you protect your assets?
- NHS Continuing Health Care
- Keeping up-to-date
Changes in care funding, and what assistance may be available to you occur all the time.
We do our best to keep abreast of these changes. We can then let you know about changes in care policy via our update service.
