Care assistants from other countries

Care Assistants from the Commonwealth.
A commonwealth citizen between 18 and 30 can work here on a "working holiday visa".  All those 31 or over might be able to get a working visa if they can prove British ancestry (a parent or grandparent born in the British Isles).

Care Assistants from the EU
All care assistants who are citizens of the EU are allowed to come and work for us here in the UK.  Citizens of Romania and Bulgaria have restricted rights:  they may only do self-employed work.  We have lots of work for good care assistants from Romania and Bulgaria, so dont hesitate to get in touch.

Care Assistants who are citizens from other countries
In practice it can be very difficult for you to obtain a visa to work in the UK.  Even if you have a visa / work permit for another country inside the EU, this gives you no rights to work inside the UK.  If you have British Ancestry in the UK  i.e. a parent or grandparent born there then it may be possible fo you to obtain an ancestral visa, but you must go to your local British Embassy first before you apply to find this out.

Spouse / Civil partner Visa
The spouse / civil partner visa is given initially for a two-year probationary period and can lead to indefinite leave to remain and British nationality.

At the time of submitting the visa application applicants for a spouse / civil partner visa must demonstrate that they are legally married to, or in a civil partnership with a partner who is a British national or permanent resident.  This person must be their genuine spouse / partner and the couple must intend to live together in the UK.

To obtain a spouse / civil partner visa it is necessary for you to fulfil the basic prerequisites set out by the UK immigration authorities regardless of whether the application is made in the UK or abroad.
