Clients with learning difficulties
Babs, born with Downs Syndrome, was very well looked after by her mother until her sudden death. Over the years, her attendance at the day centre has decreased and she is now diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Has a lot of support from her family. She needs a lot of love. Her eye sight is poor. She is now wandering and there is a gradual deterioration of memory. She responds well to love from care assistants and is a popular client.
Gerald has Asperger's Syndrome. Was left unsupported following the death of his mother. Keep him busy on all household activities. He needs to do things in a particular order. Involve Gerald in all of them, including washing and ironing. He is a kind and friendly man. Needs a lot of reassurance. May cross roads without looking for traffic.
Adam and Sue have mild learning difficulties. They are out of the house for most of the day during the week, but need supervision and gentle monitoring when at home.
Pieter came to England from Poland in 1939. With age and confusion, he has lost the memory of English and now thinks and speaks only in Polish. We have a dedicated team of Polish care assistants to cater for all his needs.
