Older clients
Many of our older clients have a strong need for companionship, as well as house-keeping and personal care.
Others will have problems generally associated with age such as strokes, heart disease, arthritis and general frailty. We need to have a wider variety of care assistants available for our older clients, because they are set in their ways and do not want to change!
Jean has cervical spondylosis, and no movement in her legs. She can move the rest of her body well. It is important that Jean does her daily exercises (list of exercises in care record book). She has a regular routine, getting into town by special taxi and caring for her is especially rewarding.
Mr and Mrs Y are both frail. He has Parkinson's and needs watching when he walks. She is very articulate, not to say bossy, but is very nearly blind. They demand a care assistant who will keep the house very clean indeed!
Mrs M is an 85 year old lady. She has Diabetes and is a bit nervous but talkative and intelligent. She needs a companion / housekeeper rather than a care assistant . Unsteady on her feet. Always go with her when she walks: she uses a stick but she is nervous of falling and breaking something.
Mr H is an easy to look after gentlemen who likes to sit and watch TV or read in his comfortable house. He likes to remain quiet. He can be restless and may look for food. Mobile but slow - can climb stairs. Hard of hearing so doesn't like radio. Care assistant to walk Mr H to get his paper from the top of his drive way. Needs supervision at all times when standing.
