Our services
Because we give our care assistants a thorough training programme, we can help a wide range of clients. However disabled, everyone can be looked after in their own home, provided that the living conditions are right.
A long-term housekeeper and care assistant
Working with elderly clients is the core of our business. Our care assistants can provide a range of services, from companionship through to specialist care.
As you get older, everyday chores and activities become increasingly difficult. Our care assistants can undertake household tasks such as cooking and cleaning and will help with personal hygiene and healthcare.
They are also fully prepared and supported to provide the right level of help to those with dementia.
Short-term care for respite or convalescence
If you or your loved one has a regular care assistant who needs to take a break, or they are temporarily unwell, we can offer short-term respite care. This is also an option for people who have had a stay in hospital and need round the clock support while they recuperate.
Our respite care is available from a few days to several weeks or maybe a few times a year to give a break to a regular care assistant, and enables the client to continue their daily routine with minimum disruption.
Our respite care assistants are highly skilled and provide the same duties as our regular care assistants. We can sometimes help at short notice, so if you need to use our respite service, your loved ones can be assured that we will respond quickly and efficiently.
Physical disabilities and complex needs
Physical disabilities or mobility issues are often a factor in the decision to move into a residential care or nursing home.
We have extensive experience in working with physically disabled clients, ranging from periods of convalescence through to long term care for disabilities including paralysis and paraplegia.
Our care assistants are highly knowledgeable about different forms of disability, and undertake regular training to ensure that they are up to date with heath and safety issues such as manual handling.
If we feel that your moving and handling may involve significant risk to your care assistant, we may need to carry our a risk assessment. We will then recommend additional equipment or techniques to protect the safety of the care assistant.
Learning Disabilities
At Christies Care, we take our provision of care towards clients with learning disabilities very seriously. Not only are we a satellite training centre for the British Institute of Learning Disabilities, but we encourage our care assistants to complete the nationally recognised LDQ.
Our clients receive a comprehensive level of care, with in many cases, their general wellbeing considerably improved.
Our comprehensive training means that we have a team of care assistants who have knowledge and experience in working with people who have different learning disabilities. They are also trained in dealing with challenging behaviours and epilepsy and have highly developed communication skills including Makaton sign language.
