Training

We have invested in modern training facilities and accommodation for care assistants whilst they train at our Saxmundham base in Suffolk. See Care Assistant Training

Our training programme includes specialist training courses to help care assistants understand and provide appropriate support for clients with conditions such as dementia or Parkinson’s, or who have learning or physical disabilities.

In addition we have a full training and development programme for our support team, covering customer service, business administration, leadership and management.

We are an accredited OCR centre for health and social care training and a British Institute of Learning Disability (BILD) satellite training centre.

Care assistant training

All our care assistants complete a four-day introductory training course.

The training offers care assistants practical and theoretical sessions and tests in topics including medication, continence management, nutrition, first aid, dementia awareness, pressure care and disability awareness. Our care assistants must also pass tests in people handling, adult protection and food hygiene. Once they are working with a client, they complete a distance learning course in infection control.

The interactive sessions feature group discussions, role play, videos, talks, demonstrations, practical moving & handling and continence management training.

Specialist training

Advanced training courses are available to those care assistants who wish to have specialist knowledge in particular areas of care.

We offer support and guidance to all of our care assistants, and our flexible approach to working ensures we can tailor our courses around the needs of individual clients.

Our advanced training courses include:

Many of our care assistants have gone on to receive nationally recognised accreditations following one of our advanced training courses.
