After being with Christies Care for almost 4 months now, I am finally doing my Induction Training next week.
Every staff member at Christies Care goes through our carer’s week long training, alongside potential carers looking to start a new career. This applies to booking staff, carer support coordinators, recruiters, IT staff and, in my case, digital marketers. Literally everyone!
While it may seem odd these days to pay someone to do something that’s not actually part of their job description, the time away from their real job is far outweighed by the insight they get. Knowing what the carers are taught and have been through lets our bookings and support teams understand our carers so much better. It means the recruitment team can answer applicant’s question, tell them what to study beforehand and allay the fears that some have.
While some live-in care companies give new carers little or, believe it or not, no training; Christies Care’s induction training is set to increase to a two week course from March.
I’m now facing a weekend of studying; then, starting on Monday, I’ll be blogging, tweeting, all my training experiences. Wish me luck!
