Following the UK government’s announcement that, in the event of a “No-deal” brexit, freedom of movement will end on the 31st October (though there are conflicting messages from different arms of the government), we have some recommendations for all our carers who are EU citizens:
If you’re returning to the UK to go to a client on Wednesday, October 30th, make sure to arrive on, or preferably before, Tuesday, October 29th.
If you’re returning to the UK to go to a client or to attend training after October 31st, we recommend you arrive a few days early.
Take out appropriate travel insurance with health cover before travelling to the UK.
It’s a good idea every year to get a flu jab – it protects your client and you, preventing you having to miss out on work. This year it’s especially important to get the flu jab as soon as you can (definitely before October 31st) as, if there is a no-deal Brexit, there are expected to be shortages of the flu vaccine.
