We get a lot of compliments from our clients and carers, which is obviously very heartening. You can see many of them on the testimonials feed on our home-page.

I’d like to highlight letters we’ve received recently from three carers that show what Christies Care is all about.

At Christies, we have carers of different ages, nationalities, experiences and goals. What unites them is a desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Susan Currell: With Christies Care since March, Sue had a little family care experience along with a degree and training in psychological counselling. One of her aims as a live-in carer was to travel and explore different parts of the UK.

Hi Teams

With just 2 and a bit days to go in the UK, I just wanted to say a very BIG thank you to you all for the support in this, my first year of caring.

It has been 8 months of adventure and new challenges and I have really learnt a lot about myself in the process. It has also given me the opportunity to travel England and see some fabulous places.

I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas with your loved ones and a happy, healthy 2015.

I look forward to working with you in the new year as my adventure continues.

Warm regards always

Sue Currell

Dawn Page: Dawn has been a live-in carer with Christies Care since 2003. In that time she has cared for clients with a range of conditions such as Learning Difficulties, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Injury, Motor Neuron Disease and Brain injury. For the last 10 years Dawn has been caring exclusively for the same client.

Hi

Could I request that you send me The Chronicle even though I’m not working at the moment?I would again like to thank the training team for all we are taught.

During the months I cared for my mother, that training was invaluable. She was totally paralysed in a king size bed and no hoist available. I received a beautiful letter after she passed away from the local hospice praising my work, which I would loved to have sent a copy of, but unfortunately it was in Afrikaans.

I couldn’t have done it without the training from Christies. I know a lot of the ladies complain about the manual handling we have to do every year – all I can say is pay attention – you never know when that training will come in handy!

Kind regards

Dawn

Ndana Makaza: A live-in carer with Christies Care since 2009, Ndana has gained experience working with clients affected by old-age, autism, dementia, learning difficulties and MS. She undertook additional training on our Learning Disabilities course in 2011 and completed her HSC Diploma (Level 2) in 2012. She is hoping to attend University to become a learning disability nurse.

Hello

I would like to start by saying thank you to Christies Care for giving me the opportunity to work as a live-in Carer. The experience has been rewarding, teaching me various skills and aspects of life. I particularly thank the Green Support Team, you have been the best!

Also, Kathryn Marshall for always finding me work and some great Booking Coordinators.

Special thanks to all the Trainers who worked so hard to keep all the Carers up to date with all the requirements. Especially Mandy Boyce who stood by me and supported me through my Health and Social Care Diploma L3. Thank you Mandy you are a great Trainer and well done for all the awards you achieved you truly deserve them.

It is however with great regret that since my return to the country I will no longer be able to continue as a live-in carer. This is due to focusing on a new career path. I will greatly miss all my clients and especially working for Christies Care.

Thank you again for all the support.

Yours sincerely

Ndanatsei makaza
