The 2015 Suffolk Coastal Business & Community Awards took place on Thursday 12 March and our Christies Care Training team came away with the People Development award.

The 2015 Suffolk Coastal Business & Community Awards recognise and celebrate the contributions, initiatives and successes of businesses, groups and individuals within the Suffolk Coastal district over the past 18 months.

“We had a lovely evening at Milsom’s Kesgrave Hall for the Suffolk Coastal Business & Community Awards. All 6 girls (and Bill) glammed themselves up for the evening and arrived to a champagne reception. We shared our table with another Bill – Bill Tancred who represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games in 1968 and 1972 and was also awarded an MBE in 1992 for services to athletics.

There was a little bit of entertainment to start with by comedian Steve Allen and a small speech by Councillor Bob Snell, Chairman of Suffolk Coastal District Council. Then it was time for dinner – a delicious three course meal followed by coffee and chocolates. Us girls realised our tight dresses were a big mistake!

Then the the awards started and the anticipation began. The award Christies Care was nominated for was eleventh in line, so we sat on the edge of our seats for quite some time. Finally, the finalists for the People Development Award were announced by Niki Rousseau from EDF Energy. And the winner is – Christies Care! I have never heard such an intake in breath from the team all at once – the gasps of elation were incredible.

We all went up to collect our award and bottle of Champagne and have our photograph taken, a perfect ending to a lovely evening.”

Alison Hawkins, Training Team Leader

“The range of industries, interests and activities in the district is impressive by any standards. It is wholly appropriate that we share our successes and reward innovation, hard work and community spirit.”
Bob Snell, Chairman of Suffolk Coastal District Council

“I’m so proud of my team and thrilled that all their hard work has been recognised.”

Lin Barnes, Director of Christies Care

Congratulations to our wonderful Training Team, all the winners and finalists.
