Although it’s still technically Summer, you wouldn’t know it to look outside!
And with temperatures starting to drop, older people are being urged to shop around for cheaper gas and electricity after a report showed customers were paying too much for their energy bills. The report from the Competition and Markets Authority revealed that millions of energy customers have been paying too much.
Around 70 per cent of customers were also shown to currently be on their energy provider’s ‘default’, and generally more expensive, standard variable tariff, despite having the option to switch to a new provider or fixed-rate tariff which could save them money.
It’s especially important now as a number of popular fixed-rate tariffs are set to expire on September 30th.
