The sun was shining for us yesterday as we held our second Good Care Day here at our Saxmundham head office.  With a guiding theme of stroke awareness the day was designed to help members of the public understand what help is available for stroke sufferers here in Suffolk, as well as care for other conditions.

We had a selection of speakers from a variety of organisations in the local area:

Tracy Groves from The Stroke Association, Helen Fairweather from the newly rebranded Headway Suffolk, Jan Ballard from The Bridge Marketing and two of our trainers, Helen Drain and Bill Brooks all gave talks relating specifically to strokes and the care available.

We also had Martyn Green from Age UK Suffolk, Angela Kemp from the East of England Co-op Pharmacy, Judith Goldsmith from Suffolk Family Carers, Peter Crix from Gotelee Solicitors and Karen Finch from the Hearing Care Centre talking about other aspects of care and ageing in Suffolk.

Each presentation was interesting and thought provoking, encouraging the audience to ask questions and enter into discussions.  There were also exhibits available from all of the speakers as well as Suffolk Disability Action Service and Healthwatch Suffolk.

Overall it was an interesting and informative day and we’re looking forward to starting to plan for next year.
