Live-in Care in Norfolk

Who has live-in care?

Anybody who needs full time care and wants to live in their own home. With live-in care, you have a trained carer who lives with you; who is there for you 24 hours a day; who is there to help you to live life as you choose, in your own home. For our elderly clients, it means that they can carry on living at home in Norfolk, with their husband or wife, garden, pets, familiar circle of friends and neighbours. For our younger clients, it means that they can go to university, have a job, go to the pub, have a family life, and generally live life as they want.

You can have live-in care for as long as you like: two weeks, a month, every now and again to cover while a family carer has a break, or for ever. It is up to you.

We are specialists

Christies Care specialises in providing fully trained and Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checked live-in carers throughout the UK. Family owned and run, and Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered, we have over 25 years of experience in this specialised field.

We train all our carers to be companions, as well as to carry out the usual tasks of daily living such as cooking, laundry, light housework, and helping their clients get out and about. They give as much personal care and help with mobility as is needed.

And what does this cost?

Christies Care has two models of live-in care, managed and self-employed. Our clients choose which model they prefer.

The managed model.

We employ the carer and take full responsibility for carrying out your agreed care tasks. A week of live-in care generally costs between £900 and £1,300, depending on our client’s condition.

The self-employed model

There is an alternative. If you are confident that the manner in which your carer carries out her tasks will not be subject to supervision, direction or control by anyone, then you may use us as an introducing agency. We don’t employ the carer but introduce her to you, to work under contract to you, to carry out your wishes. Costs generally range from £650 to £950 a week. It is subject to rules set out in the Finance Act 2014.

Our team can explain the choices in more detail, or please look at our Management and Control page on our website.

Hourly care

You may not be ready for live-in care – you may just need a carer to pop in and help you for a couple of hours a day. Christies Care has worked with Homeinstead for a number of years, and we know they give a good service. Homeinstead Norwich covers the area in and around Norwich and Homeinstead South Linconshire and West Norfolk covers the area around Kings Lynn. In the Breckland area, we have met Breckland Care at Home, a not-for-profit agency which covers from Elmham up through Fakenham to Wells. I Care Services is a small hourly care agency covering East Dereham.
